Has anyone stayed at the Pono Kai?

We're considering booking a week for next winter and was wondering about the general area and if beach front "really is" beachfront!

any info appreciated!

We've stayed at the Pono Kai many times and we love it there. Buildings A, B, C & D are oceanfront. My favorite is Building D (lower north end unit), but I did stay in Building A in 2009. At the time, the seawall was in bad shape, but was supposed to be repaired by the county sometime between last fall and the beginning of this year. Hopefully it was.
We have always enjoyed our stays at the Pono Kai. The rooms are not luxurious, but they are large with nice kitchens, great views, beautiful grounds, and lots of propane grills on site. The pool is small, but I prefer the ocean anyway. And the staff, when approached with respect and a smile, has always bent over backwards for us. I always say, you get what you give. I keep coming back and I'll be back in 2012.

no i didn't stayed at Pono Kai, i hope are you talking about yhe Pono Kai Resort which is located on the island of Kauai in the quaint town of Kapaa, and situated on 12 beachfront acres. Perfect sunsets, unspoiled tropical beaches cascading mountains and the "Grand Canyon" of the Pacific are some of the highlights that make Kauai unique. Surrounded by swaying palms, you will find your own Hawaiian Paradise at the Pono Kai Resort.

Facing a mile-long beach and readily accessible to numerous shopping and dining opportunities along East Kauai's Royal Coconut Coast, Pono Kai Resort offers a variety of recreational opportunities in addition to the beach.

Exceptionally well-maintained with thoughtful nuances and amenities like lighted tennis and shuffleboard courts, a lighted croquet lawn, and lighted barbecue areas, Pono Kai accommodates both active guests and those seeking rest and relaxation.
