La Jolla and Swap

We too were duped by La Jolla Mazatlan. We have visited Mexico many times and are timeshare owners with Worldmark (15 years) and Pueblo Bonito. We have been very happy with both of these companies. While on vacation in May, 2011 we too were approached by a gentleman at a local bar and asked to attend a one hour sales meeting at La Jolla for $400 in cash. We were totally duped by a salesaman, named Vladamir. He promised to buy our other two time shares at $105,000 and $82,000 and assured us we would have our money deposited into our checking account in no more than 45 days. He said he would make that amount ten fold by using the properties for marketing purposes. He managed to convince us that we would receive $10,000 immediately toward the price of their timeshare and that the rest of the money would come from a partner company called SWAP which is located in Laredo, Texas. He advised that the paperwork would show that we would receive payment in no more than 180 days, due to legal requirements. Needless to say, we have not seen a dime! They managed to run up $10,000 on credit cards, which we are struggling with every month and any correspondence with La Jolla and Swap has come from me, constantly e-mailing them. I was asked by Angel Gonzales, at La Jolla to not post anything negative on the internet. He claims that they have no connectiion to SWAP and are not willing to do anything to help us. Mr. Moretti at SWAP claims that they are trying to sell our timeshares and wants more time! This is all a BIG scam and I suggest you run as fast as you can if anyone asks you to visit La Jolla. My husband and I are going to Mexico in March and are going to try and take Legal action against La Jolla. Wish us luck!

Dear Sharon,

Swap and La Jolla are two different companies. They worked this way in order to protect themselves against lawsuit. If you purchased your timeshare on May of 2011 you are still on time to pursue the reimbursement of your money. I highly recommend you to hire a high qualified timeshare experts/attorneys. Specially those who work under contingency basis

Sincerely,
Rick Lasker. .

We were hoaxed, too!

Our family visited Mazatlan last Aug. and were hoaxed into the same scam as Sharon did. They said they were buying back our other vacation package for 20,000, and got us to pay over $10,000 for a week of timeshare in La Jolla, promising that we'd get our $20000 back in less than 180 days. My husband made the manage to put it in writing that if we don't get the money within 180 days, we'd get out $10000 back. Nothing happened since then and repeated phone calls only got them to give me all kinds of reasons. Today, I was told they're not doing well and may file for bankruptcy soon. And if I want to file for law suit, I'd have to hire a lawyer in Mazatlan and personally go there... They know that's going to be tough. I'm still waiting for them to give me an answer such as whether they'd pay me back in several payments or none. Would someone who got a successful settlement with them please tell how they did it and with which lawyer's help? OR we can organize to do a group lawsuit against these liars. After all it's our hard-earned money they are putting into their pockets. We should fight together!

In same boat

We visited Mazatlan last Aug. and were "greeted" or rather held up by the people at the airport and got into agreement to go to the 90 m presentation. The sales woman and her manager at La Jolla convinced us that if we buy their package, they'd buy back our other vacation package for $20,000 and we would pay them $10,000 for the La Jolla timeshare. (That's would equal to $0 for a new deal and getting back $10,000.) My husband was very skeptical about this, but I didn't believe they'd do business by lying. The manager even wrote an Addendum, promising that if we don't get our $20,000 back in 180 days, they'd refund us our money in full. They even assured us it was not going to take 180 days to $20,000 for the sale. We waited until 180 days passed and found out that the old package was still not sold. I have been contacting La Jolla for a month now and have been given all kinds of excuses and up by yesterday, I was told they don't have the money to give me. Business was bad and they were going for bankruptcy. This is robbery!
I'd really like to have people who are La Jolla victims to work together on this to get our hard-earned money back. You are welcome to send me a private mes. and we'll work on this.
