Pros: Beach/Collins location, quality, staff, amenities
Cons: pay for safe and valet parking, street noise

If you hate art deco, you might not want to go to Miami at all and might have problems with the resort. But we loved it. Please keep in mind that we have not been doing the timeshare thing long, this is our 3rd trip. Nicest unit we've had, best staff.

We were in a one-bedroom, ocean-view. We were on the side with the pool and hot tub (#s 7 - 10, we were in 408), and I think on the other side of the building the view would be valet parking (#s 1 -4)? We were right over the hot tub so could easily see when it was free. I think studios don't have balconies.

There is a lot of street noise, but then, we had our balcony door open all the time (no bugs!) and were closer to the street than the ocean. I think the only escape is to get a 2-br as it looks like only those are "ocean front" (2 per floor, #s 5 and 6). Honestly, tho, I think Miami is just plain loud. the construction & remodelling industries are going great guns and the traffic is heavy all times of day. Motorists use their horns all the time so I think they ignore the sound.

This is a small hotelish facility, clean, charming, and comfy. Staff was friendly and helpful. valet parking was downright zippy (I thought it'd be a pain but it wasn't). Maid service is available, which we passed on, tho we did get new towels daily, which was nice.

Beach towels were available free at the front desk and were large enuf. They'd give you however many you wanted, turn them in daily. in-room safe that you'll pay $2/day (I think?) whether you use it or not. Valet Parking $6/day.
Washer/dryer on odd-numbered floors; we didn't use them but got the impression they were free, soap is extra.
Free internet in the activities room, along with a lot of other stuff we didn't use: ping pong, shuffleboard, volleyball, swimming pool, board games, on and on (I liked that there were grills out there - next time we'll use em).

The unit itself was very well maintained; we were very pleased. I don't know how old this place is, but the paint, carpet and furnishings looked quite new. Color scheme was blue and green. The pics I've seen depict it very well. Most of pics posted of this resort show 2 br accomodations (more living room furniture, corner windows, larger kitchen with a bar...) but for 2 of us the 1 br was more than enuf room. I wouldn't want to take another couple, but with a couple kids it would be ok. I think the online floor plans are fairly accurate.
We had a bath and a half; nothing fancy. Pretty much standard hotel issue, except there was cabinet space available. 2 tvs, a stereo with 5 cd changer and vcr. THAT was nice. Well-supplied kitchen, including a blender and dish/dish washer soap.

More closet space than we needed - it was EXCEPTIONAL in that regard (one giant walk in plus another closet in the br, a smaller closet in the main room. Main room had a couple drawers under the tv, br had 2 night stands plus tv stand with drawers. Cabinets in both baths plus a lot of cabinet space in the kitchen). Ok, there were only 2 of us for a couple days and it was way more than we needed. As always, byo hangers. there were maybe a dozen. I loved the hot tub. It isn't big, but the jets are very powerful and it was appropriately hot (100 - 104). Because of the powerful jets, you don't really want to be in it with strangers in case you lose your grip and slam into someone. No joke, there isn't anything to hang onto and they were POWERFUL.
You could order a massage if you wanted to, but the hot tub was good enuf for me. Concierge had a pile of stuff they could help you with, but we didn't use their service at all. The giant binder of restaurant menus is quite thoughtful - no need to get somewhere and find there is nothing you like or not in your price range!

The beach was beautiful and Solara has an agreement with a concession stand to provide beach umbrellas and chairs. Quite thoughtful. You could also rent jet skis right there. Walking the beach, it's not as crowded and over-commericialized like I thought it might be.

The answer to the obvious questions is, Yes, we'll go back. Next time we'll go for a 2 br (which, according to the door card, go for $319/night!!)
